Remarks: Provenance: the provenance is given as Abydos by Daressy, Ostraca Caire , 61. However, some boxes with objects found at Mariette's Deir el-Medina excavation in 1862 have most probably erroneously been labelled as originating from Abydos, rather than as originating from Deir el-Medina. Demaree, The Ax iqr n Ra - Stelae , 40. Thus it is possible that the ostracon actually originates from the 1862 Deir el-Medina excavation, especially in view of the proper names (Toivari-Viitala). For the opinion that that Abydos is the actual provenance, see Kelly Simpson, Inscribed Material from the Pennsylvania-Yale Excavations at Abydos , New Haven and Philadelphia 1995, 18. Terminology: an alternative reading for rx.t bAk.w iry m od inr (obv. ~1-2#) is rx.t bAk.w iry m fAy inr . Kitchen, Ramesside Inscriptions VII, 7 (following Černý).
