Damaged; perhaps column(s) missing to the right of recto I; only fragments of recto I; minor damages in recto II-IV. Sheet on verso cut off after two complete lines.

Keywords: army - document - message
Provenance: Geneva fragment (together with D 405 and D 408) given to A.H. Gardiner in exchange for P. Geneva MAH 15274 in 1937, and passed on to the Turin museum (Massart, MDAIK 15 (1957), 172). Turin Cat. 2021 presumably acquired by the government of Piedmont for the Turin museum from Bernardino Drovetti in 1823 (see e.g. S. Curto, Storia del Museo Egizio di Torino , 2nd ed., Turin 1976, 45).

Names/Titles: PAy-anx (im.y-r mSa HA.w.t.y n nA pD.w.t Pr-aA anx wDA snb ; verso 1); Psg (Hr.y-pD.t n nA pD.w.t Pr-aA anx wDA snb ; verso 2 - or PA-sg ? see Remarks)
Remarks: Numbers : Černý, Peet, JEA 13 (1927), 30: "(...) also bears a number 271"; Allam, Hieratische Ostraka und Papyri , 320: "(= 271)". Classification: not a real letter but rather a probatio pennae according to Černý, Peet, JEA 13 (1927), 30; Allam, Hieratische Ostraka und Papyri , 327. Note that the width of the sheet glued on verso is unusual for a letter; cf. the measures given by Černý, Late Ramesside Letters , vii-xv and xviii. Names, Titles: Černý's transcription in Allam, Hieratische Ostraka und Papyri , pl. 119, suggests Psgs / PA-sgs (?) in verso 2, but cf. Černý, Late Ramesside Letters , 62a, note 1a.
