Based on the historical figure of Hypathia, a Greek scholar from Alexandria considered the first notable woman in mathematics, who also taught philosophy and astronomy. She was brutally killed by a Christian mob in 415 A.D., a moment which some believe marked the definitive transformation from ancient Paganism to Christianity. Justin Pollard, co-author of the book "The Rise and Fall of Alexandria" (2007), was the historical advisor for this film.
