In 1912 the young adventurous journalist Adèle Blanc-Sec is travelling through Egypt in search of antiquities. When it appears a 136 million year old Pterodactyl is on the loose in her hometown Paris, she does not hesitate to return immediately to take the matter in her own hands. In the meantime she is constantly pursued by would-be suitors, the police, monsters, and other distractions.

Based on Jacques Tardi's 1976 classic comic book series "Les Aventures Extraordinaires d'Adele Blanc-Sec" about the adventures of a fetching popular novelist who turns to investigative journalism as her research and subsequent adventures reveal the details of the mystical world of crime.
