Booth    An antiquarian is confronted by a several bizarre characters emerging from a cupboard including the top half of an old lady followed by her bottom half, a living mummy whose wrappings fall away to reveal an ancient Egyptian. Then slowly the flesh melts away and only the bare skeleton remains. Three gnomes then emerge and after doing a dance they join to become one. The last appirition is pushed into a jar whereupon a cloud of smoke arises, and through the smoke a head seems to grow larger, causing the old man to flee in terror.

Such films were primarily destined for black-owned theaters across the country. Whether the mummy mentioned in the title is actually Egyptian is not yet known.

Die Augen der Mumie Ma Germany, 1918 Emil Jannings, Pola Negri, Margarete Kupfer Directed by Ernst Lubitsch    The painter Albert Wendland is traveling in Egypt when he happens upon a beautiful but shy young Egyptian girl fetching water. Back at the hotel in Cairo with a group of European visitors, Prince Hohenfels expresses interest in visiting the burial tomb of Queen Ma; he is warned against it, since another European went and returned mad. When Albert attempts to question the victim, the man cries out, "The eyes are alive!" Disregarding the warning, Albert visits the tomb; there he meets Radu, an Egyptian who offers to give him a tour. When Wendland sees the living eyes (actually a person standing behind a door), he attempts to open the door but Radu tries to stand in his way. In the ensuing struggle Radu is shot. Behind the door Albert finds the frightened Ma, the same girl he saw fetching water; she tells how she was abducted by Radu and made his slave. Albert takes her with him to Europe. In the meanwhile, Prince Hohenfels finds the wounded Radu in the desert and takes him to Europe as well. Radu vows to find Ma, who is currently living with Wendland and performing as a dancer for a variety show. It is only a matter of time before Radu spots her and plans for a fateful confrontation. The Fortieth Door USA, 1924 Anna May Wong, Frank Lackteen, Allene Ray, Bruce Gordon Directed by George B. Seitz    An archaeologist working in Egypt falls in love with a girl who turns out to be the daughter of a missing French general. Ultimately, the young man is forced to hide his love by wrapping her up in the bandages of a mummy he has found to protect her from her stepfather. 10 part serial by Pathé, loosely based on the 1920 Mary Hastings Bradley novel. A reduced 6 episode version entitled "The 40th Door" ran in cinemas outside the US. Such serials were short chapters of a larger story shown in theaters in conjunction with a feature film. Each chapter would be screened at the same theater for one week or at different days of the week and would end with a cliffhanger, so that audiences would have to come back again to see how it continued.

His Majesty, Bunker Bean USA, 1925 Matt Moore, David Butler, Dorothy Devore Directed by Harry Beaumont    Bunker Bean, a poor clerk completely lacking in ambition, is convinced by two phony clairvoyants that he is the reincarnation of Ram Tah, an ancient Egyptian pharaoh. Feeling his own worth for the first time in his life, Bunker buys a phony mummy from the clairvoyants and starts to romance Marie Breede, the beautiful young daughter of his employer. She proposes to him, and they become engaged; but when Bunker's dog tears apart the mummy and reveals it to be a fake, Bunker loses his confidence and wants to call off the nuptials. He keeps his head, however, and gets into a fight with Bert Hollins, his rival for Marie's affections. The Mummy USA, 1932 Boris Karloff, Zita Johann, David Manners Directed by Karl Freund    "It comes to life!" In 1921 a British Museum field expedition in Egypt discovers the mummy of ancient Egyptian prince Imhotep, who was condemned and buried alive for sacrilege. Also found in the tomb is the Scroll of Thoth, which can bring the dead back to life. Unknown with the possible effects, a young and naïve member of the expedition reads the scroll and thus unwillingly brings Imhotep back to life. Years later the mummy sets out to recover the scroll from the archaeologists in order to bring his lost love back to life, an ancient princess who's soul will be reincarnated into modern young woman… the daughter of one of the archaeologists. This film is considered to be the 'mother' of all mummy films. Fresh and different in its approach of the theme, it paved the way for all later movies about an expedition finding a tomb, awakening the cursed mummy inside, which then sets off to seek revenge. Based on the short story "Cagliostro" by Nina Wilcox Putnam, which was inspired by the life of traveller, occultist and Freemason Count Alessandro di Cagliostro (Giuseppe Balsamo; 1743-1795).

The Magic Mummy USA, 1933 Directed by John Foster, Vernon Stallings    Tom and Jerry are police officers, driving around in their car and enjoying listening to some music on their police radio, when they hear a bulletin announcing another theft of a mummy from the local museum. They stumble upon the culprit, a mysterious and ghoulish man who is carrying a coffin through a secret door in a cemetery. They sneak in after him and watch him command the mummy to life; it is a beautiful woman, who he then commands to sing for his audience of skeletal theatre-goers. The main characters are named Tom and Jerry, but bear no relation to the later famous cat and mouse.

My Mummy's Arms USA, 1934 Shemp Howard, Harry Gribbon, Russell Hicks Directed by Ralph Staub    Two jerks are assistants on Mr. Smith's archealogical dig for the mummy of Egyptian King Phooey. Shemp learns that the mummy will be displayed in Smith's hotel room, and he disguises himself as Phooey in an attempt to be near Mary, Smith's daughter. Phooey's cult worshippers retrieve the mummy, and when Harry learns that the Egyptian cult will honor Phooey with a month of food and women, he jockies to take Shemp's place. Unknown to both, after one month, the mummy will be reburied where it can never be found again. 19 minute short film, one of the so-called Vitaphone Shorts featuring Shemp Howard from "The Three Stooges" on his own.

Kid Millions USA, 1934 Eddie Cantor Directed by Willy Pogany, Roy Del Rut (uncredited)    A musical comedy about a Brooklyn boy who inherits a fortune from his archaeologist father, but has to go to Egypt to claim it. The Egyptian part is set only in oriental arab settings, though a few ancient Egyptian objects serve for generating laughs. For instance, in one scene Eddie Cantor hides in a standing sarcophagus, where his face replaces that of the mummy.

Mummy's Boys USA, 1936 Bert Wheeler, Robert Woolsey, Barbara Pepper Directed by Fred Guiol    Two are hired as "excavators" for an archaeological expedition in Egypt. They don't know that their destination is the tomb of King Pharantine which carries a deadly curse that claimed the lives of nine previous explorers. It turns out that the deaths have actually been caused by the sole survivor of the first expedition who wanted all the tomb's treasures for himself.

We Want our Mummy USA, 1939 Bud Jamison, James C. Morton, Dick Curtis Directed by Del Lord    The stooges go to Egypt in search of the mummy of king Rootin-Tootin for which a museum will pay a $5000 prize. They wind up in the mummy's tomb where they are harassed by some bad guys after the same objective. The villains, who have kidnapped a professor from the museum, want the jewels buried inside the mummy. When Curly accidentally destroys the mummy, Moe and Larry wrap him in bandages to fool the bad guys. They manage to rescue the professor and retrieve the real mummy of Rootin-Tootin who turns out to have been a midget.

The Mummy's Hand USA, 1940 Tom Tyler, Dick Foran, Wallace Ford, George Zucco, Peggy Moran Directed by Christy Cabanne    "Tomb of a thousand terrors!" Archaeologists in Egypt discover evidence of the hidden burial place of the ancient Egyptian princess Ananka. With funding from an eccentric magician and his beautiful daughter they set out to find the tomb, but accidentally discover doomed Kharis's tomb first. An Egyptian priest who vowed to guard the princess' mummy takes control of the awakened Kharis to kill the party members off one by one. This first film in a series of Kharis films is by far the best, though it is heavily grounded on story and pictorial material from the original 1932 Mummy film with Boris Karloff. It is often forgotten that in this film not Lon Chaney Jr, but actually Tom Tyler plays the first Kharis. It was his tall and impressive posture that probably won him this role. Tyler was an exceptional athlete who held the American weightlifting title for fourteen consecutive years. He even attended the 1928 Olympics. He was, however, foremost a star in western movies and the Captain Marvel series. He would not continue roles in the horror genre.

The Man Who Came to Dinner USA, 1942 Bette Davis, Ann Sheridan and Monty Woolley Directed by William Keighley    A small, but pivotal scene in this comedy movie involves an Egyptian mummy case, where a rival actress for an important role is tricked into standing in the mummy case, which is then quickly closed and shipped off. Based on a 1939 play of the same title by Moss Hart and George S. Kaufman, which enjoyed several popular runs in Broadway theaters in the 1940s, and was even revived in 1980 and 2000.

This series closed a whole range of Dick Tracy movie appearances with Byrd, which had started back in 1937.

The episodes featured guest performances by manous famous stars, among others horror and mummy legends Boris Karloff and Lon Chaney Jr.

The Case of the Laughing Mummy USA, 1955 TV-series The New Adventures of Sherlock Holmes Ronald Howard, Howard Marion-Crawford, Archie Duncan Directed by Sheldon Reynolds    Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson are going on a fishing trip, and while they are riding the train, they meet Watson's old friend Reggie Taunton. Taunton asks Holmes if the detective would mind helping him with an odd problem. Taunton's archaeologist uncle has sent him an authentic Egyptian mummy, and strange laughing sounds have been coming periodically from the sarcophagus. Holmes visits Taunton's home, and has dinner with Reggie, Reggie's fiancée, the fiancée's aunt, and an Egyptologist who knows Reggie's uncle. While they are dining, the mummy starts to make the noise, and Holmes quickly finds a very simple explanation for it. But in the course of examining the mummy and the sarcophagus, Holmes uncovers a more serious mystery. This was the first and only American television series of Sherlock Holmes adventures. Produced for ABC Television, the series ran one season for 39 episodes of 30 minutes each. A total of 39 episodes were made between 1954 and 1955.

The investment turns out to be a 6,000 year-old Egyptian mummy. Cosmo has more than he can deal with when some crooked characters decide they would kill to get procession of the artifact. In this film the mummy of the Pharaoh does not come to life, but its spirit takes over the body of a young Egyptian man and uses him to get revenge on those who have desecrated the tomb.

One Mummy Too Many USA, 1957 TV-series Matinee Theatre Tony Randall, Eva Gabor Directed by Sidney Lumet Young salesman Ernest Winkler travels to Egypt to deliver an air conditioner to a wealthy Egyptian. He arrives at his client's home and discovers two suspicious men, Ibrahim and Zaghul, standing in front of a crate, which Winkler thinks contains his wares, but which actually holds his client. The two murderers plan to switch the fresh corpse with a priceless mummy which has recently been discovered by archaeologists. Winkler finds himself caught in the middle when the evildoers threaten to kill him unless he helps them carry out their plan. In desperation, Winkler enlists the help of a seemingly innocent woman named Melanie Winters, who claims that she is in Cairo to guard the sarcophagus. British archeologists discover the grave of ancient Egyptian princess Ananka. But when they open it a bad curse falls on them for having woken up the mighty guard Kharis who was sworn to protect her. Soon they find themselves haunted by the unstoppable living mummy in Victorian England. Egyptologists beware, for a priest in the film solemnly swears "He who robs the graves of Egypt... dies"... This is the fifth film featuring the mummy Kharis, following "The Mummy's Hand" (1940), "The Mummy's Tomb" (1942), "The Mummy's Curse" (1944) and "The Mummy's Ghost" (1944). In between there was a less serious Kharis appearance in "Abbott and Costello Meet the Mummy" (1955). The whole story concept for these films actually goes back to the original mummy film with Boris Karloff from 1932.

The Curse of Anubis USA, 1964 TV-series Jonny Quest Directed by William Hanna, Joseph Barbera Ahmed, an unscrupulous chieftain, plans to become the leader of a new nation. Capitalizing on Dr. Quest's archaeological interests, Ahmed lures him to Egypt. Ahmed defies the gods by stealing the statue of Anubis and hiding it in the Ghivan ruins. There he traps Quest in a catacomb of the ruins and tells them that he they is found, the fact that a foreigner planned the theft of an ancient treasure will unite all his people and he will be the leader. Mummy Munster USA, 1965 TV-series The Munsters Butch Patrick, Fred Gwynne, Yvonne DeCarlo Directed by Ezra Stone    Herman arranges to meet Marilyn at the natural history museum. But he accidentally gets himself locked inside an Egyptian sarcophagus, whereupon a sleeping pill he swallowed earlier takes effect. A pair of museum curators open the box the next day and mistake the sleeping Herman for an ancient mummy. When Lily reads about their supposed scientific discovery in the newspaper, she goes to the museum and requests that the curators put Herman in a cab and send him home as soon as he wakes up. Episode 32 of the creepy television series "The Munsters". This series was a CBS network competitor to the ABC network "The Addams Family" production. It ran for only 40 episodes in 2 years, from 1964 until 1966.

I Want My Mummy USA, 1966 Bill Dana Directed by Shamus Culhane    Unemployed Jose Jimenez finds a job with the local museum as assistant on an archeological survey somewhere in the Amazon. After some trouble with the indian population they finally discover the traces a lost civilization in a huge cave. There they discover the tomb of king Mazuma, totally Egyptian in style and even contains a sarcophagus with mummy!

The Mummy's Shroud USA, 1967 John Phillips, Andre Morell, Elizabeth Sellars Directed by John Gilling    In 1920 an archaeological expedition discovers the tomb of an ancient Egyptian child prince. Returning home with their discovery, the expedition members soon find themselves being killed off by a mummy, which can be revived by reading the words off the prince's burial shroud.

The Malevolent Mummy USA, 1967 TV-series The New Adventures of Superman    Clark and Lois accompany a famous scientist on a dig in Egypt, where Lois accidentally awakens an ancient mummy from its tomb. With Lois' life in danger, Clark changes to Superman, rescues Lois and stops the mummy's rampage through Egypt. Episode 35 of the animated tv-series "The New Adventures of Superman", based on the popular Superman comics created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster. The series ran for 3 seasons, totalling 68 episodes.

The Mummy USA, 1967 TV-series Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea Richard Basehart, David Hedison, Bob Dowdell Seaview is charged with transporting a 3000 year old Egyptian mummy to a middle-eastern nation in the hopes that the return of the national treasure will help stabilize that nation and prevent a war from breaking out. Soon the crew is affected by a spell and the mummy goes on the loose destroying everything in its path. Episode 78 of the epic television sci-fi series "Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea". The Egyptian mummy in this episode, by the way, is contained in a steel sarcophagus!

The Mummy USA, 1967 TV-series Get Smart Don Adams, Edward Platt, Lisa Gaye Directed by Earl Bellamy    Max, who works as an agent for a U.S. government spy agency, is sent to The Metropolitan Museum that is suspected to be involved in the disappearance of several CONTROL agents. When Agent 24 disappears in the middle of a meeting with Max, the Chief knows counter-organization KAOS must be involved. Max goes undercover at the museum and it turns out KAOS is using Egyptian mummy cases to secretly ship CONTROL agents out of the country. The Curse of Thut USA, 1968 TV-series The New Adventures of Huck Finn Kevin Schultz, Michael Shea, Lu Ann Haslam Directed by Bruce Bilson    Tom, Huck, and Becky are in Egypt where they encounter a mummy ("Kharis") looking for his lost love ("Ananka! Ananka!"). But they are soon captured by thieves who are using him to steal valuable pyramid treasures. Eventually the three heroes help Kharis find Ananka's tomb. She rises from her coffin, embraces him, and kisses him on the lips, at which point their bodies disintegrate. Tom and his friends watch as Kharis and Ananka ride off to heaven on a ghostly camel - in their original forms. Fair Egypt Canada, 1968 TV-series Wojeck John Vernon, Patricia Collins, Carl Banas, Ted Follows    This comic script juxtaposes the story of Madame Czerensky, a beautiful but aging woman who fears that someone is trying to kill her, with the story of a museum publicist with a mummy to bury and in need of a death certificate. Coroner Steve Wojeck discovers that the cause of the mummy's death and the source of Madame Czerensky's illness are the same: both used a mud pack from Egypt which contained arsenic; consequently both Madame Czerensky and the mummy suffered from their vanity. Scooby Doo and a Mummy, Too USA, 1969 TV-series Scooby Doo, Where are You!    The gang decides to help the professor set up a mummy exhibit, but the mummy keeps disappearing from the exhibit. Turns out the mummy is having a blast turning people into stone. Episode from the earliest adaptation of the popular animated series by Hanna-Barbera Productions featuring the many adventures of a talking Great Dane named Scooby-Doo and four teenagers.

The Power of Adamcos UK, 1970 TV-series Catweazle Geoffrey Bayldon, Robin Davies Catweazle loses his sacred witchknife ''adamcos'' which is accidentally found by mr Bennet who takes it to town to sell at the local antique shop. With the help of his friend Carrott, Catweazle manages to find the shop. Catweazle places a magic spell on the door to open it. However, there is nobody inside as the owner has popped out to buy some items. Suddenly mr Bennet arrives back at the shop, and in a panic Catweazle hides inside an Egyptian sarcophagus. When the owner returns and Catweazle opens the lid of the sarcophagus to come out, this causes the owner to faint, and Carrot and Catweazle are finally able to retrieve the witchknife. Episode from the 1970 UK hit series "Catweazle" about an eccentric 11th century wizard who accidentally travels through time to the year 1969 and befriends a young red-headed boy, nicknamed Carrot. Catweazle mistakes all modern technology for powerful magic. The series ran for 26 episodes in 1970 and 1971.

Blood from the Mummy's Tomb UK, 1972 Andrew Keir, Valerie Leon Directed by Michael Carreras, Seth Holt       Professor Fuchs leads an expedition to find the tomb of a cursed and evil Egyptian princess. When found she appears perfectly well preserved, her severed hand still-bleeding.Years later Fuchs gives the mummy's ring to his daughter Margaret, who becomes influenced by the malevolent traits of its original wearer and soon starts seeking revenge for the defilement of her tomb. Second film adaptation of the book "The Jewel of Seven Stars" by Dracula author Bram Stoker.

The Cat Creature USA, 1973 Meredith Baxter Directed by Curtis Harrington    When a rich man dies, some items from a collection of his are stolen- an ancient Egyptian gold amulet and the mummy that was wearing it. The police consult scholars from the local University to help with the investigation, which is taking a more serious turn as people connected with the case are killed by wounds that seem to be from a housecat.

La Venganza de la Momia Spain, 1973 Jacinto Molina, Jack Taylor, María Silva Directed by Carlos Aured    ancient Egyptian mummified pharaoh Amenhotep is brought back to life by a modern high priest and starts a new life as Assad Bey in Victorian London. To achieve immortality he needs to kidnap young virgins for blood sacrifices. Spanish version of The Mummy, where the ancient Egyption lovers are wicked sadists whose religion is filled with blood drinking and who can casually eat grapes while innocent victims are tortured in front of them. An uncut version with lots of nudity is rumoured to exist, but no copies are in circulation. English title: "The Mummy's Revenge".

The Mummy's Curse USA, 1973 TV-series Inch High Private Eye    Inch High is on his way to Egypt to investigate reports of a mummy coming back to life and creating havoc. Episode 6 from the animated tv-series "Inch High Private Eye" about an inch high private detective, made by the Hanna-Barbera studio's. The series ran for only 13 episodes in 1973.

El Secreto de la Momia Egipcia Spain/France, 1974 Frank Braña Directed by Alejandro Martí    Despite the title, the mummy in this film does not look Egyptian with his longish black hair, golden quarter shirt and matching skirt. He appears more like an Aztec or other Central/South American Native priest. He's also not bandaged like the traditional Universal Pictures mummies, but rather perfectly preserved when brought to a mad Egyptologist. The scientist uses an a-typical electrical stimulation device to revive the mummy. The very first action the mummy takes is to suck the blood of a wound the doctor's brutish assistant has just suffered. The rest of the film is basically a series of recapitulations. See the mummy torture a beautiful peasant woman with a hot poker, sexually molest her, suck her bloodless and send out for the next victim… Alternate titles for this film: "Love Brides of the Blood Mummy" (USA) and "Perversions sexuelles" or "Le Sang des autres" (both France).

Pyramids of Mars UK, 1975 TV-series Doctor Who Tom Baker, Elisabeth Sladen, Bernard Archard Directed by Paddy Russel    The TARDIS materialises on Earth in the year 1911 inside an old priory owned by Egyptologist Marcus Scarman. Scarman has been possessed by Sutekh, last survivor of the god-like Osirans, who is held prisoner inside a pyramid in Egypt by a signal transmitted from one on Mars. Sutekh desires his freedom and instructs Scarman to construct servicer robots - which look like Egyptian mummies - to build a missile with which to destroy the Martian pyramid. The Doctor foils this plan by blowing up the missile. He then falls under Sutekh's control himself and is made to transport Scarman to Mars in the TARDIS. Scarman cuts off the signal but the Doctor, now freed of Sutekh's influence, realises that there will be a short delay before it ceases to have effect, owing to the time taken for it to reach Earth. He rushes back and uses the time control from the TARDIS to move the end of the space-time tunnel that links the priory to the Egyptian pyramid into the far future. Sutekh, travelling down the tunnel, is unable to reach the end in his lifetime, and dies. (source: BBC) "Pyramids of Mars" is actually a sequence of 4 episodes from season 13 (1975-76) of the legendary cult BBC sci-fi series "Doctor Who", which ran a staggering 33 years from 1963 until 1996, and was revived again in 2005. The series is about a mysterious time-travelling adventurer known only as "The Doctor". The Doctor, like all Time Lords, has the ability to regenerate his body when he dies, something he can do twelve times. This episode features the Fourth Doctor, played by Tom Baker.

London Tales: Night Ferry UK, 1976 Bernard Cribbinsm, Graham Fletcher-Cook Directed by David Eady    Master-of-disguise Pyramid plans to smuggle the ancient Egyptian mummy of Nematut out of the country. When young Jeff discovers the plan, a dangerous chase via London’s Victoria and Clapham railway stations ensues, coming to a climax aboard the night ferry to Paris. One from a long line of films produced for the Children's Film Foundation. Established by film distributor and theater chain owner J. Arthur Rank, the foundation provided short, brisk and harmless entertainment for younger movie theater audiences from the '50s through the '70s.

Mousetankamen USA, 1979 TV-series The New Adventures of Mighty Mouse Oilcan Harry and Swifty are in Egypt, and Pearl Pureheart is there too. Somehow, Oilcan Harry and Swifty wake up a mummy. The mummy captures Pearl. Mighty Mouse comes to Pearl's rescue and captures Oilcan Harry and Swifty, ultimately putting the mummy back to rest. Episode 1 from the animated tv-series "The New Adventures of Mighty Mouse", which ran for 48 episodes in 1979.

Pyramids of Terror USA, 1979 TV-series Spider-Woman Spider-Woman and Spider-Man investigate a strange pyramid that arises in Egypt and the alien mummies that dwell within. It appears to be a sophisticated alien spaceship under the control of an alien mummy called Kufu from the planet Hotep. Episode from the animated series "Spider-Woman" about a woman who has spider-like powers. Based on the Marvel Comics character.

The Awakening UK/USA, 1980 Charlton Heston, Suzannah York, Jill Townsend Directed by Mike Newell    "They thought they had buried her forever!" When Egyptologist Matthew Corbeck opens the long forgotten tomb of bloody princess Kara, her awakened soul secretly takes possession of his newly born daughter Margaret. Eighteen years later she starts showing signs that Kara's soul has taking possession of her, and Corbeck sees no other option than to use ancient occult rituals to oppose this predestined plan. Third film based on Bram Stoker’s novel "The Jewel of Seven Stars". It was earlier preceded by "Curse of the Mummy"(1970) and "Blood from the Mummy’s Tomb" (1971). In 1997 followed yet another film, "Legend of the Mummy" or "Bram Stoker's Legend of the Mummy".

Mummy's the Word USA, 1980 TV-series Scooby-Doo and Scrappy Doo Directed by Ray Patterson, Oscar Dufau, Carl Urbano Scooby, Scrappy and Shaggy are driving through the Egyptian Desert. They are so hot, they see a mirage of a refreshment stand. After getting buried in a sand storm, they soon discover a pyramid. Shaggy is worried because that's "a real dead place", where the ancient pharaohs were buried, but Scrappy runs in ahead. Inside, Scooby and Shaggy are horrified by a living pharaoh's head that turns out to be Scrappy wearing the mask. They do however, encounter a moving mummy who comes after them. Scrappy wants to attack, but Scooby grabs him. They hide in ancient paintings, and then try to escape on a boat in an indoor lake, but what looks like stepping stones are actually hungry crocodiles. Shaggy and Scooby narrowly escape their jaws, which Scrappy is able to simply snap shut. The mummy appears again, and Scrappy simply unwinds him ("See, I knew he was nothing but hot air"). But upon leaving the pyramid, the mummy's spirit follows them outside, leaving footprints in the sand. The gang drives off into the desert. Jonathan and Jennifer Hart become involved when Jennifer becomes the target of the man behind the mummy who thinks she is the queen of an Egyptian pharaoh. Episode 28 of the popular television series "Hart to Hart", which ran from 1979 to 1984.

The Curse of Tutrockmen USA, 1981 TV-series The Flintstones Comedy Show Pebbles und Dino meet a mysterious mummy on their visit to the Egyptian Museum. Episode from the 1980-1982 animated series "The Flintstones Comedy Show", an educational follow-up of the original and legendary series "The Flintstones". Each ninety-minute episode features a variety of crafts and spelling games for the kids in-between six mini-segments of various lengths.

Dear Mummy USA, 1981 TV-series Quincy, M.E. Jack Klugman, Garry Walberg, Diane Markoff Directed by Georg Fenady    The smuggling of Nazi-held gems from Cairo to Los Angeles in an Egyptian mummy leaves several corpses in its wake. A typical case for Quincy. Episode 91 (season 6) of the television series "Quincy, M.E." about a crusading medical examiner in Los Angeles, an expert at his job who was always capable of finding something that everyone else missed. The series ran for 148 episodes between 1976 and 1983.

Time Walker USA, 1982 Ben Murphy, Royce Alexander, Nina Axelrod Directed by Tom Kennedy III    "For eons they traveled the galaxies. For centuries one was trapped in a pharaoh's tomb. Now he is free". A newly acquired Egyptian sarcophagus is opened in a university laboratory. By accident the mummy is revived with an overdose of x-rays and soon goes looking for his first victims. Later re-issued under the title "Being from Another Planet".

Escarabajos Asesinos Spain/USA, 1982 Rip Torn, Robert Ginty, Cristina Sánchez Pascual Directed by Steven-Charles Jaffe    A scientist awakens an Egyptian entity and becomes the leader of a sect of killer fanatics who's goal is to eliminate the most powerful men in the world. O Segredo da Múmia Brazil, 1982 Jose Mojica Marins Directed by Ivan Cardoso    Professor Vitus devotes himself to the reconstitution of a map which has been divided into eight parts. The owners of these parts are being mysteriously murdered. Having collected all parts he travels to Egypt and makes the most important archaeological discovery of the century: the tomb of Runamb. Back in Brasil, the professor brings Runamb's mummy back to life. A terrible mistake, because the mummy used to be a dangerous psychopathic murderer obsessed with the image of a dancer who once turned him down. English title: "The Secret of the Mummy".

Mummy Daddy USA, 1985 TV-series Amazing Stories Tom Harrison, Brion James,Tracey Walte Directed by William Dear    An actor dressed as a mummy races from location-filming of a horror movie through a primeval Southern swamp to reach his wife, who is about to give birth. But the locals believe in the eerie legend of Ra Amin Ka, and when they encounter the panicked, bandaged performer, they are positive he is the real deal. Episode 4 from season 1 of the science fiction tv-series "Amazing Stories" produced by Steven Spielberg. Apart from the 'legend of Ra Amin Ka' and the obligatory mummy on the loose there is nothing of Egyptological interest in this particular episode.

Mummy Talks USA, 1985 TV-series Simon and Simon Directed by Kim Manners    A graduate student in Egyptology finds an unreported mummy in the museum basement that she believes is the lost pharaoh Akhenaton. She hires private detectives Rick and A.J. to help her figure out what is going on. Episode from the detective television series "Simon and Simon" about a couple of private detectives. The series ran for eight seasons from 1981 until 1989.

The Mummy's Curse USA, 1986 TV-series The Centurions    In Egypt an archaeological dig at the Pyramid of the Lost pharaoh, headed by Professor Egon Sloan, is attacked by super-powerful jackals. The professor contacts Skyvault and requests the help of the Centurions to guard the pyramid from tomb robbers. Later that night, Jake overhears the professor using an ancient incantation to awaken the Lost pharaoh's mummified bodyguards and is knocked out by Hacker. Shadow escapes and alerts the other Centurions, who find out that the professor is working with Doc Terror and intends to use the ancient mummies to help him take over Cairo. As Ace and Max stand up against Terror and his super-powerful mummies, Jake alone is left to defeat them and save the city. The Grave Robber USA, 1987 TV-series Tales from the Darkside Robert Bloch    Two treasure hunters discover a lost Egyptian tomb and accidentally revive a mummy. The mummy, Tapok, doesn't try to strangle them, but rather challenges the male explorer to a game of strip poker. The explorer loses, and with each piece of clothing he loses he takes on more of Tapok's wrappings until finally Tapok transfers his curse and leaves with the other explorer. Episode 76 (season 4) of the 30-minute horror/fantasy anthology tv-series "Tales from the Darkside" (1983-1988).

My Pharaoh Lady USA, 1987 TV-series Alvin and the Chipmunks A mummy, said to come to life in the presence of the most beautiful girl, must arrive at Brittany's house or she will be forced to forfeit a beauty contest. Episode 91 of the animated television series "Alvin and the Chipmunks", which ran for 118 episodes between 1983 and 1990. This show focuses on three superstar chipmunks who have their own band and the crazy adventures they get into.

Sphinx For The Memories USA, 1987 TV-series Ducktales    While on vacation in Egypt, Donald Duck is spotted by two locals who think he bears a huge resemblance to an ancient pharaoh known as “The Garbled One”. He is kidnapped right before Scrooge, Huey, Dewey and Louie can meet up with him and is brought to the Palace of Garbabble. The present ruler, Sarkus, fears his position will be taken over by Donald and sends a living mummy by the name of Ka-hoo-fo to destroy him. Can Scrooge, Huey, Dewey and Louie save him in time? Episode 40 from the first animated Disney series for television "DuckTales" (1987-1990), in which Scrooge McDuck and the nephews Huey, Dewey and Louie find themselves in all sorts of adventures.

Crown of the Scarab King USA/Japan, 1987 TV-series Bionic Six Directed by Osamu Dezaki    In Egypt professor Sharp and his team discover a solid gold casket bearing a seal in the shape of a scarab. They find a papyrus inside. When presenting the 'ancient Scarab scroll' to the Cairo museum, to the horror of all present one of the sfinx statues comes to life and breaks apart, revealing the mad scientist Dr. Scarab who immediately steals the scroll. Professor Sharp calls in the help from the 'Bionic Six' to salvage the situation. The papyrus, it appears, contains a map which reveals the secret location of the 'Crown of the Scarab King', which promises unknown powers. On the spot marked 'X' on the map Dr. Scarab discovers a new pyramid rising from below the sands. Inside he finds a labyrinth and the sarcophagus of the Scarab King, with the crown on top. When Dr. Scarab tries it on, the scenes on the walls come to life warning him of the approaching Bionic Six. Scarab uses the power of the crown to scare them off by making the labyrinth statues come to life and chase them. Believing himself now to be invincible he commands to conquer all. This causes Egyptian statues from museums all over the world to come to life and cause havoc. Bionic Six manage to trap the statues from the labyrinth in quicksand and confront Dr. Scarab. Feeling cornered, he calls for the Scarab King to awaken and serve his master. The mummy, however, turns against him, takes back the crown and then goes back to sleep again. This makes the pyramid sink back into the sands. Dr Scarab and Bionix Six just barely manage to escape. Episode from the American/Japanese animated television series "Bionic Six" whose main characters are a family of machine-enhanced human beings possessing unique powers after being augmented with bionic technology. Renowned Japanese animation director Osamu Dezaki was involved as chief supervising director. The series ran for 65 episodes in 1987.

My Mummy Lies Over The Ocean USA, 1988 TV-series Police Academy: The Animated Series To put an end to a curse, a museum curator seeks the help of the Academy grads to escort the mummy of an ancient Egyptian king back to its rightful resting place. Our heroes also have to deal with not only a group of thugs who are trying to steal the mummy, but when the mummy itself who comes to life the panic really starts. Episode from "Police Academy - The Animated Series", based on the first five "Police Academy" films. The series ran for 64 episodes from 1988 to 1989.

Desert Explorer UK, 1988 TV-series Huxley Pig    Practising his First Aid bandaging technique reminds Huxley Pig of mummies and ancient Egypt. In a daydream he and his friend Sam find themselves at a souvenir stall in modern day Egypt. There they acquire a supposedly secret map to an undiscovered tomb from con man Horace and set off to explore. Eventually they reach the mummy's tomb where Horace tries to scare them off, but Sam gets even by dressing up as a mummy and thus scares the wits out of Horace. Episode 21 from the stop-motion animated children's television series "Huxley Pig", based on the picture picture books by Rodney Peppé. It follows a pig who is always is dreaming of exciting professions and adventure.

Mummy Dearest USA/Belgium, 1989 TV-series The Smurfs    Gargamel's Egyptian incarnation puts the Smurfs to work on building a monument for his cat pharaoh Azra when they wake up a mummy that saves them. Episode 387 (season 9; 1989) of the long running NBC animation series "The Smurfs", produced by the legendary William Hanna and Joseph Barbera.

These came from the flying Egyptian temple of the catlike sorceress Morgana. She manages to transport our heroes to her magical make believe-realm, Morphia, where she tries to steal the powers from Genie by making him afraid. In the end Aladdin and Genie have to battle Morgana in her own temple, where Genie hides himself as a mummy inside an Egyptian sarcophagus. Episode 40 from the animated television series "Aladdin", based on the 1992 movie. The series ran for 88 episodes between 1994 and 1996.

Terror! The Phantom Fighter Appears 恐怖! 亡霊ファイター出現 USA, 1994 TV-series Mobile Fighter G Gundam (機動武闘伝Gガンダム) Directed by Yasuhiro Imagawa Domon and Rain travel to Neo Egypt in order to face a mobile Gundam fighter there. Upon arriving, they find out the current Gundam and its pilot have been destroyed by a 'ghost', the Mummy Gundan, who uses sandstorms to hide itself and attack. Joining Sai Saici, the group learns that the Mummy Gundam and its pilot were taken over by DG cells because of the mummy's strong desire to defeat Sai Saici after what his grandfather did in a previous tournament. The Mummy Gundan appears again, and this time Domon uses his Super Mode to defeat it. Episode from the Anime series "Mobile Fighter G Gundam" (機動武闘伝Gガンダム or Kidō Butōden Jī Gandamu), set in a future where space colonies hold organized fighting tournaments known as the "Gundam Fight" every four years to settle their political differences in place of war. Mummy Dearest New Zealand, 1996 TV-series Hercules: the Legendary Journeys Michael Hurst, Kevin Sorbo Directed by Anson Williams The Egyptian princess Anuket commands Hercules to help her find a stolen mummy. First he refuses, but when he learns that the mummy has awakened and is hungry for human life, he changes his mind. Also on the mummy's trails is the renegade priest Sokar, who hopes to unleash its powers and use them to become pharaoh of Egypt. Sokar seizes the mummy from merchant Salmoneus, along with a pendant known as an ankh that gives him control of the creature. Knowing the mummy will become unstoppable once it consumes the life force of a human, Sokar turns it loose on Hercules. The son of Zeus traps the mummy in a tomb and riddles it with spikes, but this proves only a temporary setback to a creature already dead. After Hercules rescues Anuket from Sokar, the mummy reappears, kills Sokar, and absorbs the priest's life force. It now threatens to become all-powerful, but Hercules literally unravels this scheme as he grabs one end of the mummy's wrappings and gives a mighty yank, causing the creature to spin furiously before tumbling into a vat of boiling wax. Anuket, grateful to Hercules and to a slave who gave his life for hers, promises that on returning to Egypt she will work to free all slaves. They wish to become their comic book heroes, the Big Bad Beetleborgs, but this also brings the Beetleborgs' sworn enemies to life, the Magnavores (in the second season replaced by the Crustaceans). The series "Big Bad Beetleborgs" (later called "Beetleborgs Metallix") ran for two seasons on Fox Kids network between 1996 and 1998. This low budget independent feature by Midnight Marqee Productions is a parody on the 1940's mummy horror B-movies.

Countess Elizabeth Bathory, history’s infamous lesbian vampire arrives from Transylvania to take over the Los Angeles castle of Count Dracula. Elizabeth orders the castle's servant Renfield to find a way for her to survive in daylight. He learns from Professor Foran, an archaeologist from the local museum, the legend of Hor-She-Sut, an evil Egyptian sorceress whose mummy is kept at the museum. Using the mummy as a conduit, Elizabeth contacts Hathor, the Egyptian 'blood goddess' and sister of the sun-god Ra. Hathor reveals that, by drinking the blood of three young women and also stealing their Ka's (spiritual souls), Elizabeth will be able to survive in sunlight. This Elizabeth does, but when she subsequently defies Hathor, Renfield summons the goddess. Hathor possesses and re-animates the Mummy’s body. Elizabeth and the Mummy battle outside the castle, but Renfield is finally able to subdue Elizabeth by wielding a sacred 'Blood Scarab' like a crucifix before her and impale her heart using one of the mummy's severed arms like a stake, thus saving Hathor.
