Mummy o' Mine USA, 1926 Directed by Charles R. Bowers, Bud Fisher    Odd couple Mutt and Jeff are in Egypt in search of Mutt's pharaoh ancestor. When they reach the pyramid, to fool the guards they have to go through some crazy antics by switching mummies and wrapping Jeff up in one. Animated version of the popular American newspaper comic strip "Mutt and Jeff ", first created by cartoonist Bud Fisher in 1907 and commonly regarded as the first daily comic strip. In 1916 Fisher licensed the comic for animation to pioneers Charles Bowers and Raoul Barré of the Barré Studio. They released more than 300 animated Mutt and Jeff shorts in a period of 11 years.

Pedigreedy USA, 1927 TV-series Felix the Cat    Felix tries to get into a snooty nightclub, and is told that only people of "unquestioned lineage" are allowed in. Felix then relates his family history, including how his ancestors taught the Egyptian pharaohs how to do the Charleston and another one who showed Columbus that the world was round. In the end, Felix brings his family tree--literally--into the club to prove his lineage. An Egyptian Gyp USA, 1929 A rather disjointed short finds an explorer wandering through Ancient Egypt. Early animated comedy, part of a series of six, produced by animators Leo Britton and George Jeffry. Originally advertised as "a sound novelty" with "music-dialogue effects", though surviving copies are missing exacly the latter, so we will never know what this novelty sounded like.

Gypped in Egypt USA, 1930 TV-series Van Beuren Aesop's Fables Directed by John Foster, Mannie Davis    After killing a camel, Waffles and Don are punished by a horrific giant sphinx who transports them into a pyramid. In there they have to go through various haunting and scary adventures with dancing skeletons and living hieroglyphs before they finally manage to escape. Early RKO sound cartoon (Van Beuren Aesop's Fables) featuring a cat and a dog with lots of surrealism, considered a cult classic among both animation buffs and historians.

The Art of Self Defense USA, 1941 TV-series Walt Disney's Goofy Directed by Jack Kinney    Goofy takes a lighthearted look at self defense through the ages, with the cavemen, the ancient Egyptians, Medieval knights, the age of chivalry and 19th and 20th century boxing. The Egyptians, we learn, used to poke each other in the eye as a means of self defense. Episode from the 1940's Goofy "How to..." cartoons in which Goofy demonstrates how to do just about everything, clumsily but always determined and never frustrated.

The Egyptian Mummy Case USA, 1951 TV-series Dick Tracy Ralph Byrd, Charles Evans, Noel Cravat Directed by Duke Goldstone    Dick Tracy hides in an Egyptian mummy case in order to trap museum thieves, but faces death when the mummy case in which he's hiding is about to be thrown into an incinerator. Episode from the 1950-1951 adventure television series "Dick Tracy" (39 episodes), based on the famous comic strip and starring Ralph Byrd. This series closed a whole range of Dick Tracy movie appearances with Byrd, which had started back in 1937.

The Pill Of Smartness USA, 1958 TV-series Tom Terrific Directed by Gene Deitch    Tom and his dog Manfred must race villainous Crabby Appleton to retrieve the 'Pill of Smartness' that once belonged to Cleopatra and makes whoever swallows it the smartest person in the world. Episode from the animated series "Tom Terrific", a series of five-minute cartoons created specifically for the Captain Kangaroo show from 1957 to 1959. It features a gee-whiz boy hero, called Tom Terrific, who can transform himself into anything he wants thanks to his magic thinking cap. The series ran for 26 episodes.

Felix in Egypt USA, 1959 TV-series Felix the Cat After surviving a shipwreck, Felix and his bag of tricks wash up on the shore of the Sahara desert. His nemesis, the professor, is still after his bag of tricks, kidnaps him and brings him to Egypt. With a special device he turns Felix into a flat painting on the wall of a pyramid "for a million years", so he can finally own the bag. The bag, however, plays a trick on the professor and follows him around barking like a dog. Felix manages to pump himself from the wall with the help of a bicycle pump from the bag, and manages to retrieve the bag from the professor. In the subsequent chase the professor slides down the side of the pyramid and ends up on the mouth of the sphinx. Episode 11 from the first animated series "Felix the Cat" by Trans-Lux Television (1958-1961), about a clever cat and his magic bag of tricks, based on the Felix daily newspaper strips by Otto Messmer.

Egypt Us USA, 1960 TV-series Popeye    Popeye, Olive and Wimpy are in the Egyptian desert. When the auto overheats and collapses, Wimpy characteristically suggests they should take advantage of this catastrophe and eat lunch. While the food is being prepared Olive wanders off and gets trapped inside a pyramid. Popeye has to save her from some mean looking Egyptians, while at the same time keeping an eye on Wimpy so he doesn't eat all the hamburgers.

The Egyptian Treasure USA, 1960 TV-series Felix the Cat In Egypt, the mad professor has found a scroll giving a clue to hidden treasure inside a pyramid. Searching for the right pyramid, the professor blows up all the pyramid tops to look inside. The Keeper of the Pyramids calls Felix to help stop him. Using his bag of tricks, Felix is transported to Egypt. His first attempt to stop the professor fails. The professor continues to blow up more pyramids and eventually finds the right one containing the treasure. While he and his companion are celebrating their find, Felix finally manages to capture them. As punishment he orders them to rebuild all the pyramids.

Matinee Idol Popeye USA, 1960 TV-series Popeye the Sailor    Brutus is an egotistical French director making a film about Antony and Cleopatra, starring Popeye and Olive Oyl. Episode 75 from the 1960's animated series "Popeye the Sailor", a televised follow-up of the original Popeye theatrical shorts that were produced from 1933 to 1957.

Clyde Crashcup Invents Egypt USA, 1961 TV-series The Alvin Show Clyde Crashcup and Leonardo invent the camel and take a trek to Egypt. During an investigation of one of the pyramids, Crashcup angers an evil Egyptian god who puts a curse on the bragging scientist. Peek-A Boo Pyramids USA, 1961 TV-series The Hunter Kenny Delmar The world's citizens are shocked to learn that the Great Pyramids have disappeared. The Hunter flies his private plane to Egypt to investigate but makes a crash landing in the desert and has to rent a camel from the locals to make it the rest of the way. While conversing with the locals (and making fun of their accents), the Hunter learns of the Sphinx, the "one who knows all". The Hunter decides that this Sphinx fellow would be a good person to question regarding the missing pyramids, so he goes off in search of him. The Hunter is initially angered when the statue refuses to talk; he threatens to arrest it and even gives it a kick, hurting his foot in the process. The kick summons the Fox from a trapdoor at the base of the Sphinx. He is disguised as an Egyptian merchant and is peddling the stolen blocks of the Pyramids as high-quality writing tablets. He encourages the Hunter to pick one up and feel its thickness, but the Hunter stumbles under its weight and drops it on the Fox's head, knocking him senseless and revealing his identity. Officer Flanagan drops in out of nowhere in a helicopter, ready to arrest the Fox. The Hunter blasts on his horn as Flanagan sings his praises to the locals. Rafeefleas USA, 1961 TV-series Top Cat    After spending the night in a museum case, Benny leaves the Modern Museum of Ancient Art with a priceless Egyptian scarab pinned to his jacket. Thinking it's a bauble, Top Cat offers it to Fancy-Fancy to use in impressing the lady cats. But soon the gang realizes the jewel is genuine, and they sneak back into the museum to return it. They are caught by Dibble, who charges them with stealing the entire collection. While the cats try to straighten the situation out, an real jewel thief appears and is apprehended. Tut Tut Magoo USA, 1961 TV-series Mister Magoo Mr. Magoo travels to Egypt to visit the ancient monuments. Het is unaware of a local who steals from naïve tourists, but somehow the thief can't seem to get Mr Magoo's money. Cleopatra USA, 1963 TV-series Peabody's Improbable History Adventurous dog Mr. Peabody and his adopted boy Sherman set their time machine to encounter Cleopatra, Ptolemy and Julius Caesar. Episode from the animated tv-series "Peabody's Improbable History", a segmented part of the late 1950s and early 1960s television animated series "Rocky and His Friends" and "The Bullwinkle Show" (collectively referred to as "Rocky and Bullwinkle").

Cleopatra's Heart Japan, 1963 TV-series Astro Boy (鉄腕アトム)    Astro Boy tries to foil a mad scientist's plot to use a robotic Cleopatra (a sexy one, of course) to recreate the ancient kingdom of Egypt. Cleopatra's love, by the way, is another robot called Mark Anthony. Episode 44 of the Japanese anime series "Astro Boy" (鉄腕アトム or Tetsuwan Atomu) based on the Manga comic "Secret of the Egyptian Conspirators " (1954) by Osamu Tezuka (1928-1989). It is a cartoon adventure series about a youngster in the 21st century. Interestingly, Astro Boy was the first animated TV series to be produced in Japan. After becoming a worldwide hit, Japanese cartoons began to flood the market with the release of other successful series. Followed by episode 45 "The Return of Cleopatra".

The Return of Cleopatra Japan, 1963 TV-series Astro Boy (鉄腕アトム) An evil robot copy of Caesar entrusts Astro Boy with the royal staff of Queen Cleopatra. But it appears he had stolen it and now Cleopatra tries to get it back. But is she the real Cleopatra or just another evil robot copy?!? Cleo Trio USA, 1964 TV-series Peter Potamus and So-So    Peter and So-So land in Egypt and meet Julius Caesar, who is despondent about losing the favor of Cleopatra. They go to Cleopatra's barge to speak for Caesar. Cleopatra forgives Caesar without Peter's knowledge. Peter tries to use reverse psychology with Cleopatra and speaks insultingly about Caesar. Caesar overhears the insults and attacks Peter. Peter uses his hippo hurricane holler to escape back to his balloon. Episode from the animated children series "Peter Potamus and So-So" produced by the well-known Hanna-Barbera Studios. The series is about a purple hippopotamus called Peter Potamus and his traveling companion monkey So-So who fly back and forth through time in a balloon participating in historic events.

The Curse of Anubis USA, 1964 TV-series Jonny Quest Directed by William Hanna, Joseph Barbera Ahmed, an unscrupulous chieftain, plans to become the leader of a new nation. Capitalizing on Dr. Quest's archaeological interests, Ahmed lures him to Egypt. Ahmed defies the gods by stealing the statue of Anubis and hiding it in the Ghivan ruins. There he traps Quest in a catacomb of the ruins and tells them that he they is found, the fact that a foreigner planned the theft of an ancient treasure will unite all his people and he will be the leader. The Uninvited UK, 1964 TV-series The Thunderbirds Directed by Brian Burgess, David Elliott…    Thunderbird 1 with Scott at the helm is shot down in the Egyptian desert by unidentified fighter planes. Scott is soon found unconcious by two archaeologists, who provide first-aid and radio International Rescue. Virgil, Brains and Tin-Tin arrive in Thunderbird 2 and take him back to their home base. Meanwhile, the archaeologists continue their search for the lost pyramid of king Khamandides. Disaster strikes as their supply trailer breaks loose from their jeep and explodes, leaving the pair stranded without water. Their SOS call is picked up by Alan on Thunderbird 5 and Scott is soon on his way again in Thunderbird 1. Then the archaeologists discover the pyramid of Khamandides. They find a door and go in, but suddenly the door closes behind them. Lying next to it they see the skeleton of the tomb's last guest. However, the pyramid isn't what it appears to be, and the archaeologists find themselves in trouble from the same creatures that shot Scott down! Egypt USA, 1965 TV-series The World of Commander McBragg Commander McBragg's army ventures into the Egyptian desert, where he spots the enemy. While in retreat, he runs into a pile of giant stones, which causes a flat on his jeep. Thinking quickly, he uses the rubber tire to create a giant slingshot, which starts flinging giant stones at his enemy. He creates a big wall that becomes the Great Pyramid as we know it. Mummies Boys USA, 1965 TV-series The New Three Stooges The three stooges are in Egypt and get lost inside a pyramid. The mummies resting there are quite annoyed by the disturbance they're causing and scare them away. The original 1930s Stooges provided their own voices for the animated adventures. Includes newly filmed live-action "wraparound" segments as the lead and close for the cartoon.

Johnny Sokko and His Flying Robot ジャイアントロボ Japan, 1967    A young boy aids in the fight against a mechanized terrorist organization as the sole controller of a prototype giant robot. Live action series of 26 episodes created between 1967 and 1968 based on the original Giant Robo (ジャイアントロボ) manga by Mitsuteru Yokoyama. The titular robot has clearly Egyptian features such as a nemes-like headdress, but the storyline itself contains no references to any ancient Egyptian origin. See also the later (1992) animated adaptation entitled "Giant Robo - The Day Earth Stood Still" or "Giant Robo - The Animation".

The Malevolent Mummy USA, 1967 TV-series The New Adventures of Superman    Clark and Lois accompany a famous scientist on a dig in Egypt, where Lois accidentally awakens an ancient mummy from its tomb. With Lois' life in danger, Clark changes to Superman, rescues Lois and stops the mummy's rampage through Egypt. Episode 35 of the animated tv-series "The New Adventures of Superman", based on the popular Superman comics created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster. The series ran for 3 seasons, totalling 68 episodes.

Ōgon Bat 黄金バット Japan, 1967 Directed by Kujiro Yanagida, Seiji Sasaki, Tadao Wakabayashi    Ōgon Bat is a “god of justice and protector of the weak” from Atlantis who was put into suspended animation in an Egyptian sarcophagus to be awakened in the future to fight the forces of evil. His sarcophagus is discovered in modern times by Prof. Yamatone and his daughter Marie in a tomb in Egypt. When Yamatone's family is threatened by the henchman of the evil Dr. Nazō, Marie starts to cry and begs for help. Her tears fall on Ōgon Bat's body and reanimate him. From then on, and in every episode of the series, he appears in the shape of a masked vigilante, The Golden Bat, whenever Marie asks for his help. Animated cartoon or Anime based on the manga Ōgon Bat (黄金 バット or "Golden Bat") by Takeo Nagamatsu. The series ran for 52 episodes in 1967-68.

The Race against Time USA/Japan, 1967 TV-series Speed Racer (マッハGoGoGo) Directed by Peter Fernandez When an archaeologist is murdered during the Sahara Race, Speed tries to fulfill the dying man's last request -- to find his daughter, lost in the Egyptian ruins. Speed finds her, but she's amnesiac and believes she is Cleopatra. To gain her trust, Speed must pass a series of tests, including a gladiator fight and retrieving a statue from the top of a pyramid. Episode 28 from the American adaptation (Speed Racer) of the Japanese made Anime television series マッハGoGoGo (Mach GoGoGo!). Originally serialized in manga print form by Tatsuo Yoshida, from 1967 to 1968 it ran as a television series in seperate Japanese and American adaptations with a total of 52 episodes. In 1997, a modernized version appeared in Japan with 34 episodes. An English adaptation of this remake in 2002 only saw 11 episodes due to licensing disputes.

Rama Tut USA, 1967 TV-series The Fantastic Four Directed by William Hanna, Joseph Barbera    Finding an ancient Egyptian tablet with the face of their team on it, the 'Fantastic Four' use a time machine to travel to ancient Egypt and find out what happened. There they encounter the powerful dictator Rama-Tut. Episode from the animated series "The Fantastic Four". Along with Spiderman this was one two animated series produced by Hanna-Barbera based on Marvel Comics characters. The series lasted only two seasons and was cancelled because of parental concern over TV violence in the late 1960s.

Astérix et Cléopatre Belgium/France, 1968 Directed by René Goscinny, Lee Payant, Albert Uderzo    The famous Gauls named Asterix and Obelix put their strength to work by helping an architect for a bet between Cleopatra and Caesar. Animation based on the René Goscinny and Albert Uderzo comic strip. English title: "Asterix and Cleopatra".

The Curse of Thut USA, 1968 TV-series The New Adventures of Huck Finn Kevin Schultz, Michael Shea, Lu Ann Haslam Directed by Bruce Bilson    Tom, Huck, and Becky are in Egypt where they encounter a mummy ("Kharis") looking for his lost love ("Ananka! Ananka!"). But they are soon captured by thieves who are using him to steal valuable pyramid treasures. Eventually the three heroes help Kharis find Ananka's tomb. She rises from her coffin, embraces him, and kisses him on the lips, at which point their bodies disintegrate. Tom and his friends watch as Kharis and Ananka ride off to heaven on a ghostly camel - in their original forms. Interestingly, in this production, Becky, Tom, and Huck are live-action characters, while the bad guys and assorted others are animated.

Grobowiec Faraona Poland, 1968 TV-series Bolek i Lolek Directed by Wladyslaw Nehrebecki    Bolek and Lolek are in Egypt where they get trapped inside a pyramid. There they struggle with a shady looking character who tries to get to its treasures. They finally manage to wrap him up like a mummy and deliver him to the authorities. Episode from the Polish animated children television series "Bolek i Lolek" (Bolek i Lolek Wyruszaja w Swiat) about two young brothers and their fun adventures which often involve spending a lot of time outdoors. Most episodes do not have dialogues. The series ran between 1963 and 1986 for a total of 150 episodes.

Pink Sphinx USA, 1968 TV-series The Pink Panther    The Pink Panther is in Egypt on an expedition to uncover a buried tomb containing ancient treasures, and he has only enough money to purchase a tiny camel that can't carry the load of tools that the Pink Panther has and that resists all the panther's attempts to force it to do so. Animation short.

The Solar Sphinx Canada/USA, 1968 TV-series Rocket Robin Hood    An attack by Robin, Will and Little John on what looks like a tax collecting ship owned by Prince John has an unexpected result. The trio are captured and transported to the planet Nilor, which bears a resemblance to ancient Egypt in terms of its structures. The ruler, Emperor Tut, has a proposal for the Robin and his friends with unpleasant consequences promised if they turn him down. Episode 41 of the animated adventure sci-fi series "Rocket Robin Hood", which is about Robin Hood of Sherwood Asteroid, a space age version of the medieval outlaw who continues his ancestor's crusade against heavy taxation, despotism, and the general forces of evil. The series, which ran for 147 episodes from 1966 until 1969, uses quite a number of elements derived from the ancient classical world. "The Solar sphinx" is the only episode that plays in an Egyptian setting. An earlier episode entitled "The Dark Galaxy" (#37) features a planet with East Indian and Egyptian architecture and some mummy-robots in the service of the forces of evil, but has nothing else of Egyptological interest and was therefore omitted from this list. And contrary to what the title suggests, the episode entitled "Cleopatra Meets Little John" (#16) is about a female dinosaur with that name. It was therefore also omitted.

Scooby Doo and a Mummy, Too USA, 1969 TV-series Scooby Doo, Where are You!    The gang decides to help the professor set up a mummy exhibit, but the mummy keeps disappearing from the exhibit. Turns out the mummy is having a blast turning people into stone. Episode from the earliest adaptation of the popular animated series by Hanna-Barbera Productions featuring the many adventures of a talking Great Dane named Scooby-Doo and four teenagers.

The Mummy's Tomb USA, 1972 TV-series Amazing Chan and the Chan Clan Directed by Charles A. Nichols Charlie Chan and his family help at an archaeological dig in Egypt where a previously undiscovered pharaoh was buried. However, it seems that there's a curse on this tomb, and that anyone who trespasses on the tomb is doomed. It's up to Charlie Chan and the kids to find out what's really going on. Egyptian Daze USA, 1973 TV-series Mutt and Jeff Mutt and Jeff travel to Egypt to discover the ruins of King Mutt. But the guards won't let this happen. Redrawn version of "Mummy o' Mine" from 1926. The original Mutt and Jeff animated series ran from 1916 until 1927 and was based on a long-running and widely popular American newspaper comic strip created by cartoonist Bud Fisher in 1907 about 'two mismatched tinhorns'. In 1973, eleven of the original 300 were redrawn colorized for a feature film, that was eventually only released in the 16mm small theater circuit.

Episode 6 from the animated tv-series "Inch High Private Eye" about an inch high private detective, made by the Hanna-Barbera studio's. The series ran for only 13 episodes in 1973.

Nephren USA, 1973 TV-series Mission: Magic!    While on a mission to restore the 'City Of Antiquity', Miss Tickle contends with Nephren, an ancient Egyptian Queen who has come back to life. This Queen's magic proves so powerful that Miss Tickle ends up exhausted. But both women have to join forces to rescue Nephren's lackeys, who are trapped inside a pyramid. The series was primarily intended to be a vehicle to promote Springfield's career as a teen idol. He is joined by a cast of animated fictitious characters: Miss Tickle, a mild-mannered teacher, and six teenaged students. The series ran for only 16 episodes on US television network ABC.

Astérix and Obélix are chosen as representatives of the village to take up the challenge. Animated adventure of the gaul Astérix has a little but lovely scene involving a hypnotizing Egyptian magician as one of the twelve tasks.

The Mysterious Pyramid Japan, 1975 TV-series Arabian Naito Shindobatto no Bōken (アラビアンナイト シンドバットの冒険) Directed by Fumio Kurokawa    When Sinbad and his friends arrive at the pyramids in search of ancient powers, Ali Baba is caught by a bunch of thieves who want to steal the treasures. Episode from the Japanese animated series "Arabian Nights: Sinbad's Adventures" (Arabian Naito Shindobatto no Bōken, or アラビアンナイト シンドバットの冒険), based on tale about Sinbad the Sailor from the '1001 Nights' (or 'Arabian Nights') folk tales. Throughout the series Sinbad journeys to different destinations and cultures together with his uncle and his friends Ali Baba and Aladdin. The series ran for 42 episodes in 1975-1976.

London Tales: Night Ferry UK, 1976 Bernard Cribbinsm, Graham Fletcher-Cook Directed by David Eady    Master-of-disguise Pyramid plans to smuggle the ancient Egyptian mummy of Nematut out of the country. When young Jeff discovers the plan, a dangerous chase via London’s Victoria and Clapham railway stations ensues, coming to a climax aboard the night ferry to Paris. One from a long line of films produced for the Children's Film Foundation. Established by film distributor and theater chain owner J. Arthur Rank, the foundation provided short, brisk and harmless entertainment for younger movie theater audiences from the '50s through the '70s.

Egypt USA, 1977 TV-series Scooby's All-Star Laff-A-Lympics The series "Scooby's Laff-A-Lympics", which was produced between 1977 and 1979, incorporates nearly every major Hanna-Barbera animation character from the 1950’s through the 1970’s. In this series the characters are separated into three teams that compete against each other in races and obstacles. The nineth episode is entitled "Egypt" contains two competitions, one being "touch the tip of the pyramid" and the other a "camel race" in the desert. The events around the pyramid involve the Yogi Bear and Really Rotten teams using several tricks such as a secret hoist in a wall and a trap door. Eventually they leave the pyramid with a sawn-off tip.

The Return of Anubis USA, 1977 TV-series The Space Sentinels The god Anubis, an alien imprisoned by superstitious Egyptians 5000 years before, is revived and seeks revenge on humanity. Episode from the animated series "The Space Sentinels" of which thirteen half-hour episodes were made. It features the Roman mythological figures Hercules and Mercury who are joined by Astrea, a character created specifically for the series, to form a superhero team to protect mankind.

Tutankhamen's 3000-Year Curse ツタンカーメン三千年の呪い Japan, 1977 TV-series Lupin the Third (ルパン三世) Yasuo Yamada, Kiyoshi Kobayashi, Eiko Masuyama    In Cairo, Egypt, master thief Lupin the Third steals the death mask of king Tutankhamen from the Egyptian museum. As soon as he starts messing around by wearing it, Lupin ends up being cursed and thinks he actually is the late ruler of Egypt. His friends and allies Jigen, Goemon, and Fujiko must find a way to undo the curse and cure Lupin. Episode from the Japanese anime television series "Lupin the Third" (ルパン三世 or "Rupan Sansei"), based on the original manga series written and illustrated by Kazuhiko Kato under his pen name, Monkey Punch. It follows the escapades of master thief Arsène Lupin III, the grandson of Arsène Lupin, the gentleman thief of Maurice Leblanc's series of novels. The animated version appeared in four incarnations, in 1971-1972, 1977-1980, 1984-1985 and in 2012, followed by a number of specials and theatrical movies.

Conquerors of the Future USA, 1978 TV-series Challenge of the SuperFriends Directed by Ray Patterson, Carl Urbano    The SuperFriends are shocked when and their arch-enemy alien supervillain Sinestro saves two Paris subway trains from a collision. Later, his ally Toyman stops a couple of bank robbers, and Gorilla Grodd and Bizarro prevent an airship disaster. The villainous group claims they are tired of battling the SuperFriends and losing each time. But they show their true colors when they do not come to the aide of the dying planet Santar, so it is too late for SuperFriends to save it. While on Santar, the SuperFriends get a message which leads them to a trap in an Egyptian tomb and finally to the year 3984, where the Legion of Doom has now conquered a domed city. Episode 11 of season 1 of the animated series "Challenge of the SuperFriends" about a team of superheroes based on the 'Justice League' and associated comic book characters published by DC Comics. One of the characters is Hawkman, a reincarnation of ancient Egyptian 'prince Khufu' and an archeologist by trade who uses his archeological finds to combat evil. He has the power of flight and uses Nth metal weapons. The series ran for only one season in 1978. His off-the-wall escapades spoof the adventures of James Bond and similar rakish heroes. This first anime version of the popular manga comic tells the story a policeman hunting a criminal who has stolen a valuable ancient Egyptian amulet that promises its possessor eternal life.

The Kitty Katt Caper USA, 1979 TV-series The Plastic Man Comedy Adventure Show The evil Kitty Katt discovers an ancient Egyptian serum that can turn people into cats. She uses the serum on several important people including Plastic Man. Plastic Man must find the antidote to save himself and the rest of the world. The Kitty Kat character appears to be based on the Batman villain 'Catwoman'.

Mousetankamen USA, 1979 TV-series The New Adventures of Mighty Mouse Oilcan Harry and Swifty are in Egypt, and Pearl Pureheart is there too. Somehow, Oilcan Harry and Swifty wake up a mummy. The mummy captures Pearl. Mighty Mouse comes to Pearl's rescue and captures Oilcan Harry and Swifty, ultimately putting the mummy back to rest. Episode 1 from the animated tv-series "The New Adventures of Mighty Mouse", which ran for 48 episodes in 1979.

Pyramids of Terror USA, 1979 TV-series Spider-Woman Spider-Woman and Spider-Man investigate a strange pyramid that arises in Egypt and the alien mummies that dwell within. It appears to be a sophisticated alien spaceship under the control of an alien mummy called Kufu from the planet Hotep. Episode from the animated series "Spider-Woman" about a woman who has spider-like powers. Based on the Marvel Comics character.

Mummy's the Word USA, 1980 TV-series Scooby-Doo and Scrappy Doo Directed by Ray Patterson, Oscar Dufau, Carl Urbano Scooby, Scrappy and Shaggy are driving through the Egyptian Desert. They are so hot, they see a mirage of a refreshment stand. After getting buried in a sand storm, they soon discover a pyramid. Shaggy is worried because that's "a real dead place", where the ancient pharaohs were buried, but Scrappy runs in ahead. Inside, Scooby and Shaggy are horrified by a living pharaoh's head that turns out to be Scrappy wearing the mask. They do however, encounter a moving mummy who comes after them. Scrappy wants to attack, but Scooby grabs him. They hide in ancient paintings, and then try to escape on a boat in an indoor lake, but what looks like stepping stones are actually hungry crocodiles. Shaggy and Scooby narrowly escape their jaws, which Scrappy is able to simply snap shut. The mummy appears again, and Scrappy simply unwinds him ("See, I knew he was nothing but hot air"). But upon leaving the pyramid, the mummy's spirit follows them outside, leaving footprints in the sand. The gang drives off into the desert. Each ninety-minute episode features a variety of crafts and spelling games for the kids in-between six mini-segments of various lengths.

Prophecy of Peril USA, 1981 TV-series Thundarr the Barbarian Directed by John Kimball John Kimball, Rudy Larriva    Thundarr, Princess Ariel and Ookla the Mok must find the three women who are fated to stop a sorceror called Valior. One of them is an ancient queen called Maya, who lies in a tomb under the ancient city that she once ruled. She and the other two women - one of whom is a hermit who wields a staff that gives her super-strength, and the other a model from 1980s Earth - combine their powers in order to stop the evil wizard, sending him back in time and destroying the Gem of Power, from which he derives his magic. Maya is depicted in the cartoon as a duplicate of Cleopatra, even wearing the famed pharaoh's headdress and ancient Egyptian garb; she is an elementalist, a person who can transform herself into any one of the four elements. Episode 18 from the animated television cartoon series "Thundarr the Barbarian", loosely inspired by R.E. Howard's Conan the Barbarian. In a kind of post-apocalyptic world, Thundarr, a muscular warrior, and his companions Princess Ariel and Ookla the Mok travel the world on horseback and battled evil wizards who combine magical spells with technologies from the pre-catastrophe world. The only Egyptian element in this series is limited to the figure of queen Maya depicted as Cleopatra.

Secret of the Sphinx France/Japan, 1981 TV-series Ulysses 31 (宇宙伝説ユリシーズ31)    Passing through the domain of the 'Great Sphinx', a planet full of pyramids and Egyptian elements, Ulysses must answer his riddle to leave safely. However, the sphinx's treacherous daughter kidnaps the children and plots to make Ulysses her slave. Episode 9 from the Franco-Japanese animated adventure series "Ulysses 31" (宇宙伝説ユリシーズ31 or "Uchū Densetsu Yurishīzu Sātīwan") that ran for the total of 26 episodes in 1981. It features Homer's story of the journey of Odysseus, brought into the thirty-first century.

Succession USA, 1981 TV-series Into the Labyrinth Simeon Andrews, Suzi Arden, Mark Buffery Directed by Peter Graham Scott    In this episode the children Phil, Helen and Terry look for the good sorcerer Rothgo in ancient Egypt at the time of Tutankhamun's burial, and seek a final desperate solution to evil sorcerer'Belor's powers. Episode from the British children's television series "Into the Labyrinth" (1980-1982), based around the struggle of two timeless feuding sorcerers - the noble Rothgo and the evil Belor. The first two seasons followed a group of modern-day children (Phil, Helen and Terry) who find Rothgo, almost lifeless, in a labyrinthine cave. Rothgo sends the children through different periods of time to search for the Nidas, a magical object of limitless power and which is disguised as a different object in each time period. Thus the children arrive at various points of history.

While there, he meets King Tut. When Tut is kidnapped, it's up to Bobby and Tut's sister to rescue him from some power-hungry elders. Outstanding childrens program features a story in king Tutankhamen's time. Also known as "Tut and Tuttle".

The series features two brothers who assist in an excavation where Professor Slatters tries to find curium 82. In their quest the meet an alien creature who gives the brothers drawings for a time machine, which they construct and use to travel in time.

Cleo and the Babe USA, 1982 TV-series Voyagers! Michael Gregory, William Lucking, Andrea Marcovicci Directed by Bernard McEveety    The Voyagers inadvertently bring Cleopatra forward in time to prohibition-era New York City, where she encounters gangster Lucky Luciano. Episode 6 from the time travel-based animated series "Voyagers!". This series is about Phineas Bogg, one of a society of time travelers called Voyagers who, with the help of a young boy named Jeffrey Jones, travel in time to ensure that history unfolds as we know it.

Mind Your Manners, Dr. Dred USA, 1982 TV-series Drack Pack    Blue-skinned evil genius Dr. Dred plots to steal the golden artifacts of the Egyptian king Tut-Tut and put the blame on the Drak Pack. Episode from the animated television series "Drack Pack", centred around three young men named Drak, Frankie and Howler who are descendants of Dracula, Frankenstein's monster and a werewolf. To atone for their ancestors' wrongdoings, the three, united as the Drak Pack, became superheroes. A total of 16 episodes were made.

Peril in the Pyramids USA, 1982 TV-series Battle of The Planets On Earth, one of the oldest Egyptian temples of Amon-Ra has gone missing. 7-Zark-7 locates it on planet Alpha Three at the edge of the galaxy. This is the planet where Earth sends all of its criminals and their families to make fresh starts. Chief Anderson orders G-Force to the hot desert planet to find out what is going on. Don't Eat the Pictures USA, 1983 TV-series Sesame Street Directed by Jon Stone    The Sesame Street regulars tour New York City's Metropolitan Museum of Art. Just as the museum closes, Big Bird announces that he must stay behind to find Mr. Snuffleupagus. While the others search the entire museum for Big Bird, he and Snuffy befriend Egyptian Prince Sahu, who has been trying to solve a riddle for more than 4,000 years so that he can finally join his parents. The boy prince claims to be under a spell cast by Osiris, the Lord of the Underworld, and asks Big Bird and Snuffy to help him find the answer to the question, "Where does today meet yesterday?" The three wander throughout the museum searching for clues from ancient Egyptian drawings, while the others examine masterpieces and art objects. Cookie Monster has a hard time not trying to eat any of the pictures displaying fruit and other food products. One-hour special episode of the Sesame Street, the popular children's educational television series starring Muppets characters created by Jim Henson.

The Curse of the Pharaoh Canada, 1984 TV-series Inspector Gadget    Inspector Gadget must stop M.A.D. agents from looting the tomb of Egyptian pharaoh Poot-Ta-Toot. Episode 18 of the animated tv-series "Inspector Gadget" that ran from 1983 to 1984.

The Mummy's Curse UK, 1984 TV-series Bananaman Eric goes on a school trip to the museum and runs into General Blight and Aunty who plan to steal Egyptian treasures from the exhibit. Eric eats a banana and transforms into Bananaman to foil their scheme. Episode from the animated series "Bananaman" about a schoolboy who leads and amazing double life as himself and action hero Bananaman, essentially a parody of Superman with shades of Captain Marvel. A total of 40 episodes were produced between 1983 and 1986.

The Mystery of the Disappearing Oasis USA, 1984 TV-series Mr. T Directed by Rudy Larriva    Mr. T and his team go to Egypt to save an Egyptologist lost in a pyramid. Episode from the short-lived TV-series "Mr. T", an animated spin-off of the legendary 1980's television action series "The A-Team".

The Pink Sphinx Australia, 1984 TV-series Kidd Video    Kidd Video and the rest of his basement-band are live-action characters who get forced into a bizarre and animated world by the hands of the evil record producer Master Blaster. The episode "The Pink Sphinx" features a pink Egyptian sphinx that grants wishes to the person who manages to solve its riddle. The series "Kidd Video" ran from 1984 to 1987.

Raiders of the Lost Cat Show USA, 1984 TV-series Heathcliff and the Catillac Cats Heathcliff takes Sonja to a museum for her birthday. There two shady characters mistake Heathcliff for an old Egyptian cat king that has returned to life. They decide to return him to Egypt. Episode from the animated television series "Heathcliff and the Catillac Cats" about the adventures of a group of cats who live in a junkyard.

The Case of the Fouled Up Pharaoh USA, 1985 TV-series Potato Head Kids Mrs. Potato Head has assigned her class to do a report on the Egyptian exhibit at the local museum. The Potato Head Kids explore the museum and drive the curator nuts - they are then accidentally locked in for the night and decide to play with some of the costumes they see. After reading about an ancient curse on an Egyptian necklace, they are ambushed by an Egyptian dog creature named Anubis and chased all over the museum. The surprise appearance of a mummified Mr. Potato Head and the quick thinking of Spud reveals that Anubis is actually the museum curator. The curator wanted to steal the necklace and blame its disappearance on the curse. The Potato Head Kids have saved the day and gotten A-pluses on their reports as a bonus. "Potato Head Kids" is an outgrowth of the Mr. Potato Head character franchise, which Mr. And Mrs. Potato Head now playing adult figures in the lives of their children and their friends, basically a varied bunch of anthropomorphic potatoes with different personalities.

Clémentine en Egypte: La Cité de l'Horizon France, 1985 TV-series Clémentine Directed by René Borg    Episode 22 of the animated series "Clémentine" about the fantastic adventures of a 10-year-old girl called Clémentine Dumat who uses a wheelchair and travels the world with her family to find a cure that will allow her to walk again. In these travels she occasionally meets famous fictional and historic characters. In this particular episode Clementine meets pharaoh Akhenaten who is about to be overpowered by his enemies, the priests of Amun. She offers to help him. The story continues in the following episode called "le Voyage au Pays des Morts" or "The Voyage to the Land of the Dead" (see elsewhere in this list). The 39-part series was only popular in Europe.

Clémentine en Egypte: Le Voyage au Pays des Morts France/Japan, 1985 TV-series Clémentine Directed by René Borg    Episode 23 of the animated series "Clémentine" about the fantastic adventures of a 10-year-old girl called Clémentine Dumat. Following the events in the previous episode 22, pharaoh Akhenaten is killed by poison and Clementine is very distressed by this. When she learns he has travelled to the afterlife, where he will live on, she drinks poison be able to join him. On the way she is judged by Anubis who lets her continue her journey without further trouble as he finds she is pure of heart. When Clementine is back in her present time after this adventure, it appears that Tutankhamun's tomb has been found. Clementine mentions jokingly that someone has finally found her husband's tomb. Everyone laughs upon hearing this.

The Curse of Tutti-Frutti USA, 1985 TV-series Yogi's Treasure Hunt Yogi and his crew are sent to Egypt to recover the teasure of pharaoh Tutti Frutti from his tomb before it falls into the wrong hands. Once there they are confronted with the pharaoh's curse! Episode 6 from the animated tv-series "Yogi's Treasure Hunt" made by the famous Hanna-Barbera studio's. This particular series, one of many featuring the Yogi Bear character, ran for only 27 episodes in 1985-1986. It follows the adventures Yogi Bear and a crew of fellow Hanna-Barbera all-stars on a ship that can operate on water and in air. Their mission: to recover lost treasure, to safeguard the safety of the world, and to prevent whatever item they are seeking for to fall into the wrong hands.

Eau De Cobra USA, 1985 TV-series G.I. Joe Cobra steals an ancient formula for a love potion from an Egyptian tablet. He intends to use it on a shipping magnate, to get control of the world's largest shipping route. Naturally, G.I. Joe plans on stopping Cobra's plan and getting that perfume out of the way. Episode 38 from the animated tv series "G.I. Joe", about an elite counter-terrorist unit formed to combat the threat of the evil Cobra Organization. Plots generally centered on a Cobra plot or invention of the week, and the Joes' efforts to stop the plan. The series ran for two seasons and 85 episodes between 1985 and 1987.

The Gods Below USA, 1985 TV-series G.I. Joe    A mission to rescue an archeologist from Cobra's clutches leads the Joes on a strange supernatural journey through the tunnel of an ancient pharaoh's tomb to a confrontation with Osiris, the Egyptain god of the dead. Episode 41 from the animated series "G.I. Joe" based on the successful toy series by Hasbro. G.I. Joe is the code name for an elite strike force with the primary purpose to be a counterforce to the huge terrorist organization called Cobra which is gunning for world domination. The series ran for two television seasons and 85 episodes.

Phar Out Pharaoh USA, 1985 TV-series It's Punky Brewster Rene Auberjonois (voice), Pat Fraley (voice)    Margaux buys a necklace that turns out to be an ancient Egyptian artifact. Glomer uses his magical powers to take her and the other kids to ancient Egypt to return it, but there Margaux is mistaken as the princess Tut Tut. Fourth episode from the television series "It's Punky Brewster", an animated spin off of the live action television show Punky Brewster. The animated version ran for 26 episodes in 1985-1986.

Thomas & Senior en de Grote Goudroof Netherlands, 1985 Lex Goudsmit, Bart Steenbeek Directed by Karst van der Meulen    After moving to a new town, the young Thomas befriends the old mr. Van Dijk who everybody calls 'Senior'. When Thomas finds a mysterious package that was dropped from an airplane, and Senior is suddenly pursued by criminals who believe he has it, they decide to work together to unravel the mystery behind it. They discover the contents have something to do with a valuable Egyptian treasure that is scheduled to come to The Netherlands for an exhibition. Will they manage to save the treasure and catch the thieves without Thomas' parents noticing anything? Seven part youth series that ran on Dutch television between 1985 and 1988.

ThunderCats USA, 1985    "ThunderCats" is about a long-running battle between good, the ThunderCats, and evil, the Mutants and their leader Mumm-Ra. The ThunderCats are humanoids with distinct feline appearances, while the Mutants are a rag-tag group of uglies, all of them a form of anthropomorphs. Throughout most of the series the action is set on the planet called "Third Earth", the third age of Earth. Both visual and verbal references to ancient Egyptian culture during the series seem to indicate that the planet is a future version of our Earth. The ThunderCats dwell in a substantial fortress built in the shape of a cat, the Cat's Lair, somewhat similar in design to the Chefren Sphinx at Giza. Their opponent, the evil Mumm-Ra, was once a mighty ruler of ancient Egypt. When death called on him, so did evil. Unable to accept death, he turned to evil spirits to restore him to life. In return they demanded his immortal soul, which become twisted and dark. His once great pyramid became black and isolated, full of evil rage. Thus he became Mumm-Ra, The Ever Living. Tut the Second USA, 1985 TV-series The Littles    Henry and the Littles are in Egypt when they get kidnapped and taken to a pyramid. It appears Henry is thought to be the reincarnation of King Tut and is in danger of being kept in the pyramid forever. Episode from the children television series "The Littles", based on the novels by American author John Peterson. The series ran for a total of three seasons and for a total of 29 episodes.

I Tut, Tutt's Not a Pharaoh UK, 1985 TV-series Danger Mouse Danger Mouse's arch evil villain Greenback sets out to steal an ancient Egyptian amulet which Danger Mouse and his assistant Penfold have been sent to find. Episode from the animated tv-series "Danger Mouse", which features a mouse superhero secret agent living in a mailbox in London. The series ran for a total of 89 episodes, which were made from 1979 until 1992.

A G.I. Joe: Arise, Serpentorrise! USA, 1986 TV-series G.I. Joe    After yet another defeat inflicted to the criminal organization by G.I. Joe, Cobra's leader of research and interrogations, Dr. Mindbender, comes with a new plan to collect the genetic material of great warriors and military leaders from the past to create a composite clone that would be the perfect new and poweful leader for Cobra. To set this scheme into motion, among others DNA from the mummy of an ancient Egyptian scholar is used as part of the genome of the composite clone Serpentor. G.I. Joe has very little time to learn of this plot before Cobra becomes that much more a dire threat to the world. The first two animated G.I. Joe mini-series "G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero" and "G.I. Joe: The Revenge of Cobra", based on the comic book series from Marvel Comics, ran in syndication from 1985 to 1986. Toutankhaton, le Combat Royal France, 1986 TV-series Les Mondes Engloutis Directed by Michel Gauthier Arkana and her companions meet Tutankhaton, who is about to become pharaoh, and are caught up in a plot by the boy's uncle and the Priests of Amon, who want to seize power and return to worship of the old gods. Episode from the futuristic French animated cartoon series "Les Mondes Engloutis" ("Spartakus and the Sun Beneath the Sea") about a women named Arkana, who was sent to save Arkadia from the sun’s failure. She is joined by Spartakus (slave rebel), Bob, and Rebecca (brother and sister). English title of the episode: "The Boy Pharaoh". The series ran on Nickelodeon for 52 episodes.

Crown of the Scarab King USA/Japan, 1987 TV-series Bionic Six Directed by Osamu Dezaki    In Egypt professor Sharp and his team discover a solid gold casket bearing a seal in the shape of a scarab. They find a papyrus inside. When presenting the 'ancient Scarab scroll' to the Cairo museum, to the horror of all present one of the sfinx statues comes to life and breaks apart, revealing the mad scientist Dr. Scarab who immediately steals the scroll. Professor Sharp calls in the help from the 'Bionic Six' to salvage the situation. The papyrus, it appears, contains a map which reveals the secret location of the 'Crown of the Scarab King', which promises unknown powers. On the spot marked 'X' on the map Dr. Scarab discovers a new pyramid rising from below the sands. Inside he finds a labyrinth and the sarcophagus of the Scarab King, with the crown on top. When Dr. Scarab tries it on, the scenes on the walls come to life warning him of the approaching Bionic Six. Scarab uses the power of the crown to scare them off by making the labyrinth statues come to life and chase them. Believing himself now to be invincible he commands to conquer all. This causes Egyptian statues from museums all over the world to come to life and cause havoc. Bionic Six manage to trap the statues from the labyrinth in quicksand and confront Dr. Scarab. Feeling cornered, he calls for the Scarab King to awaken and serve his master. The mummy, however, turns against him, takes back the crown and then goes back to sleep again. This makes the pyramid sink back into the sands. Dr Scarab and Bionix Six just barely manage to escape. Episode 91 of the animated television series "Alvin and the Chipmunks", which ran for 118 episodes between 1983 and 1990. This show focuses on three superstar chipmunks who have their own band and the crazy adventures they get into.

Sphinx For The Memories USA, 1987 TV-series Ducktales    While on vacation in Egypt, Donald Duck is spotted by two locals who think he bears a huge resemblance to an ancient pharaoh known as “The Garbled One”. He is kidnapped right before Scrooge, Huey, Dewey and Louie can meet up with him and is brought to the Palace of Garbabble. The present ruler, Sarkus, fears his position will be taken over by Donald and sends a living mummy by the name of Ka-hoo-fo to destroy him. Can Scrooge, Huey, Dewey and Louie save him in time? Daughter of the Nile 王家の紋章 Japan, 1988 A young girl named Carol is transported back to ancient Egypt by the evil Queen Isis. There she falls in love with Isis's brother, the pharaoh Memphis. Carol marries Memphis and becomes his Queen. This inadvertedly creates a new timeline in which the history as she knew it is radically changed. Anime based on the popular Japanese Manga 王家の紋章 or "Crest of the Royal Family" by Hosokawa Chieko (細川知栄子). This original Shôjo or Girls' Manga (53 volumes since 1976 and still ongoing) loosely uses the history of the Ancient Mediterranean (Egypt, Assyria and Babylonia) as a backdrop. The Anime version consists of image clips with music and narration in the background.

Desert Explorer UK, 1988 TV-series Huxley Pig    Practising his First Aid bandaging technique reminds Huxley Pig of mummies and ancient Egypt. In a daydream he and his friend Sam find themselves at a souvenir stall in modern day Egypt. Mummy Dearest USA, 1989 TV-series Garfield and Friends At an Egyptian museum exhibit, Garfield has an accident and becomes unconscious. He dreams of being the pharaoh's beloved cat. The Riddle of the Pyramid Netherlands/Germany/Japan, 1989 TV-series Alfred J. Kwak Directed by Dennis Livson, Hiroshi Saitô    Episode from the animated television series "Alfred J. Kwak" (a.k.a. "The Adventures of Alfred J. Quack") which follows the adventures of a children's cartoon character from a Dutch theatre show by Herman van Veen. Compared to other children's television series, Alfred J. Kwak features exceptionally mature and often difficult themes. Episode 34, "The Riddle of the Pyramid", is about the quest for a cure for professor Ramses, who is critically ill. The only curse seems to be an ancient medicine known to have been buried with pharaoh Tut-cat-cammon. Alfred and his friends set out to find his pyramid, but once there get trapped in a room without exit. The storyline is continued in the next episode 35 "The Labyrinth" (not listed here).

Mind Your Mummy Mommy, Mario USA, 1990 TV-series The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3    Hip and Hop steal the sarcophagus and mummy of prince Mushroomkhamen. His mummy mother seeks to retrieve it, but mistakenly identifies Mario as her lost son, drags him back to the pyramid and mummifies him. The situation can only be resolved by bringing her true son back. Episode from the animated series "The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3", based on the hugely successful 'Super Mario Bros. 3' video game. The series is also known under the name "Captain N & the Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3" and lasted for 26 episodes.

Revenge of the Pharaohs USA, 1990 TV-series G.I. Joe Cobra's leader Night Creeper Leader thinks he is an ancient Egyptian pharaoh and has his sights set on staff sergeant Lady Jaye. Both T-Bag and her friend T-Shirt have magical powers. Two-part animated adaptation of Hergé's classic comic book adventures of Tintin. The series features characters and plotlines from the entire manga, but presented in an all-new story. The events take place in the near future and follow 12-year old Daisaku Kusama, master of a giant robot, and international police organization Experts of Justice in a battle with a secret society aiming to gain world domination. The titular Giant Robo wearing a nemes-like headdress has clearly Egyptian features, but the storyline itself contains no references to any ancient Egyptian origin. After some considerable difficulties, Jotaro and his companions finally arrive at Dio's lair and find their way to the room where his coffin resides. Just as they prepare to strike the fatal blow, Dio appears more powerful than ever... Anime based on the popular Manga series by Hirohiko Araki (荒木 飛呂彦), published in the magazine "Weekly Shōnen Jump" between 1987 and 2004. The original Japanese version of this Anime consists of six episodes that were released in 1993 and onother seven (actually intended as an explaining prequel series) in 2001. Earlier, animated series starring the Pink Panther ran as "The Pink Panther Show" from 1969 to 1978 and as "Pink Panther and Sons" from 1984 to 1985. The Pink Panther Ultimate Guide (2005) by Jerry Beck apparently list this episode as "Cleopanthera", but I haven't been able to confirm this from other sources.

Cleopatra Spain, 1994 TV-series Las Tres Mellizas Episode from the animated television cartoon series "Las Tres Mellizas" (The Triplets), created after the books by Catalan illustrator Roser Capdevila. A total of 104 episodes were made between 1994 and 2004. In the stories, the sisters each time manage to annoy the Bored Witch, who punishes them by sending them into a classic tale, legend or literary work. Egyptian themed episodes include episode 45 "Cleopatra" and episode 99 "Tutankhamon".

The Curse USA, 1994 TV-series Billy the Cat Directed by Jean-Pierre Jacquet    Billy the Cat tells a story about a little bad boy who met a wizard who turned him into a cat, so the boy would feel what it is like to be the victim for once. In this episode his cat-mentor Sir Hubert makes fun of an ancient legend known to all cats: back in ancient Egypt a cat named Hubisis once rebelled against the mighty queen Catapatra, who ruled with the help of a mighty cat-eye amulet. Hubisis managed to escape, but as a revenge Catapatra put a curse on all his descendents. Sir Hubert doesn't believe in this fairytale, but he soon discovers that he himself is a descendent of Hubsis, as he is kidnapped by the powerful cat Eartha, follower of queen Catapatra. To punish him Catapatra want to make him a living mummy. Of course Billy and Queenie come to the rescue. By stealing the amulet, thus robbing Catapatra of her powers, they manage to free Sir Hubert. Episode 11 of the animated tv-series "Billy the Cat" which ran for a total of 52 episodes (30 min. each).

In the Heat of the Fright USA, 1994 TV-series Aladdin Directed by Alan Zaslove    While mapping a river area for the sultan, Aladdin and his companions come across a peasant village put in flames by magical fire balls. These came from the flying Egyptian temple of the catlike sorceress Morgana. She manages to transport our heroes to her magical make believe-realm, Morphia, where she tries to steal the powers from Genie by making him afraid. In the end Aladdin and Genie have to battle Morgana in her own temple, where Genie hides himself as a mummy inside an Egyptian sarcophagus. Episode 40 from the animated television series "Aladdin", based on the 1992 movie. The series ran for 88 episodes between 1994 and 1996.

The Mommy's Hand USA, 1994 TV-series Mighty Max    Max's mom again finds herself in danger when a ring placed on her hand compels her to go to Egypt. Following in concern, Max and company find that the ring belongs to Isis, an ancient Egyptian goddess who has been living among humans for a few thousand years. Now a little unhinged, she is attempting to awaken her husband Osiris hoping that he will destroy the human race for its many faults and injustices. The series lasted only 2 seasons with 40 episodes from 1993 until 1994.

Passover USA, 1994 TV-series Rugrats    The Pickles family are gathering to celebrate the Passover (Pesakh) Seder at grandpa Boris and grandma Minka's house. The younger generation don't seem to understand the importance of celebrating Passover, "a holiday without presents", but when grandpa tells them the epic story of Moses leading the Hebrews away from the pharaoh and slavery (with character Tommy as Moses and Angelica as the pharaoh), everyone finds something to believe in. Last episode of season three of the animated television series "Rugrats", which ran for a total of 172 episodes between 1991 and 2004. The series centers around four babies and their day-to-day lives, usually involving common life experiences that become adventures in the babies' imaginations. This particular episode focuses on topics of religion, particularly towards Jewish beliefs and practices. Throughout the episode, the different religious practices of each of the characters is revealed. The episode received overwhelmingly positive reviews from television critics at the time and is one of the most popular episodes of Rugrats in its broadcasting history.

The Tomb of the Pharaoh ピラミッドの鍵貸します Japan, 1994 TV-series Montana Jōnzu (モンタナ・ジョーンズ) Montana and Alfred are in the Cairo Museum to examine the treasures of boy-king Tutankhamen. On one of the king's necklaces they discover a puzzle that seems to contain information about a secret treasure hidden inside a pyramid. Together with their friend and reporter Melissa Sone, who happens to be in Cairo as well to write an article about the same pyramid, they set out to seek the treasure. Episode 7 from the Japanese anime series Montana Jōnzu (Montana Jones), inspired by the Indiana Jones movies. The series takes place in the 1930s and is about the adventures of Montana Jones, who goes treasure hunting with his cousin Alfred Jones and the beautiful reporter Melissa Sone. Their opponent is Lord Zero, a rich, eccentric art lover and master thief. A total of 52 episodes were made in 1994 and 1995.

Big Bad Beetleborgs USA, 1996 Wesley Barker, Herbie Baez, Blake Torney    In a haunted mansion three kids accidentally release a ghostly presence that, in return for releasing him, offers to grant them one wish. They wish to become their comic book heroes, the Big Bad Beetleborgs, but this also brings the Beetleborgs' sworn enemies to life, the Magnavores (in the second season replaced by the Crustaceans). The series "Big Bad Beetleborgs" (later called "Beetleborgs Metallix") ran for two seasons on Fox Kids network between 1996 and 1998. One of the regular characters is Mums, a 5,000 year-old Egyptian mummy that can unwrap his bandages to reveal a 'grim reaper'-like form. Only two episodes center around this character. In first season episode 37, entitled "The Curse of Mums' Tomb", two archaeologists come to the haunted mansion to reburry Mums because they believe it let loose a curse upon them that makes them sneeze and itch all the time. In second season episode 18, entitled "The Curse of the Mummy's Mommy", Mums' mommy, who is also a mummy, comes to town.

Egypt USA, 1996 TV-series Inspector Gadget's Field Trip    Inspector Gadget tours Egypt sailing down the Nile River, exploring the pyramids at Giza and the Valley of the Kings while telling about Egyptian kings, the usage of papyrus and the implementation of irrigation of the Nile Valley. Episode from a later spin-off educational series starring the popular figure from the 1984-1986 "Inspector Gadget" about a clumsy, absent-minded and oblivious detective. In this 1996 series, which has significant character changes compared to the original version and also features a combination of animation and live images, Gadget takes students on an educational tour around the world in 50 field trips.

Phantu's Curse Canada, 1998 TV-series Flying Rhino Junior High After viering a movie about pharaoh Phinster and Mrs. Snodgrass teaching Egyptian history in class, boy genious Earl morphs the whole school into an Egyptian tomb. The four heroes of the story, Billy, Marcus, Ruby and Lydia, have to find their way out of the maze and return the school back to normal before they are sealed in the tomb forever. Matters get complicated when Lydia takes a golden scarab and unleashes a mummy. Episode from the animated television series "Flying Rhino Junior High". In this series we follow the adventures of four children who try to counteract the chaos created in their school by boy genious Earl P. Sidebottom who has created a supercomputer capable of altering reality.

Joseph interprets pharaoh's dreams which represent a famine in Egypt, and pharaoh is so impressed that he makes Joseph the second most powerful man in the land in order to prepare the country for the famine. Joseph meets Asenath again and they marry. It is during this time when he is reunited with his family who come to Egypt for food. They decide to run an experiment to see if they can revive a mummy by way of translating a magical papyrus to make a strong revival potion. On the day after the experiment they discover the mummy has indeed disappeared from its coffin and are pretty impressed by their accomplishment. Later on a news bulletin they hear it did not walk off by itself, but was probably stolen. But beware the ancient pharaoh's curse: "The Nile will fall, the desert shall rise and all who dare enter will be turned to stone!" Of course that won't stop Scooby-Doo and the Mystery Inc. team from going inside and finding something even more mummifying...a cursed army of the undead! (source: Warner Bros.) Scooby-Doo is a popular and long-running animated series produced for television by Hanna-Barbera Productions, now Cartoon Network Studios. "Scooby-Doo! in Where's My Mummy?" was, however, not produced for television but is a so-called direct-to-video movie. These movies feature the original five-character cast from the early "Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!" days, not including the later Scrappy-Doo character. Tut Tut USA/Canada, 2005 TV-series Time Warp Trio Fred, Joe and Sam accidentally warp to ancient Egypt where they meet the young Pharoah Thutmose and —thanks to his evil minister Hatsnat— get a little too up close and personal with the mummification process. Episode 4 from the animated television series "Time Warp Trio", based on the children's book series written by Jon Scieszka. The series features Joe who in the first episode received a magical book from his uncle that can instantly transport him and his friends Fred and Sam to a variety of different times and places. The series ran for 26 episodes in 2005 and 2006.

Escape to the House of Mummies, part II USA, 2006 TV-series The Venture Bros.    In this sequel to a fictional part I, Team Venture find themselves trapped in a pyramid in the clutches of a bloodthirsty ancient Egyptian cult of Osiris and their time machine. Dr. Venture narrowly escapes and teams up with Master Billy Quizboy and Pete White, but promptly forgets to mount a rescue. So it's up to Brock and a pantheon of history's greatest men to find another way out. Episode 18 of the animated series "The Venture Bros." (26 episodes so far) which chronicles the adventures of two dopey teenage boys Hank and Dean, their super-scientist father Dr. Thaddeus Venture, and their father's secret-agent bodyguard Brock Samson. The show contains a lot of references to other animated adventures of the past.

Game On USA, 2006 TV-series Genie In The House When Emma plays a video game set in the ancient Egypt times and wishes that the mummy, who she cannot beat, wasn't in the game, Adil the Genie unwittingly transports this mummy into their house. Fortunately, the mummy thinks that Adil is his master, so Adil sees an opportunity to have his own servant for once. When Emma lets slip that Adil isn't really his master, the mummy starts chasing him. So Adil sends the mummy back into the game, but the wish goes wrong and their own living room is transformed there instead. After some difficulties Adil manages to overcome the mummy, put everything right and end the game. Episode from the animated television series "Genie In The House" about a widowed father with two teenage daughters who find a dusty old lamp containing a real genie named Adil while exploring the loft of their new home. This leads to all sorts of magical adventures. The series has run from 2006 until present for more than 78 episodes.

Het Huis Anubis Netherlands/Belgium, 2006 Iris Hesseling, Lucien van Geffen, Vreneli van Helbergen The dutch youth-series "The House Anubis" tells the story of a boarding school in an old house. The house was once occupied by Egyptian archaeologists and the young boarders soon find out it is haunted by an ancient curse! According to the makers, the story was inspired by the alleged curse that hit the discoverers of the tomb of Tutankhamun back in 1922. The ancient Egyptian element in this series is, however, pretty thin as the story primarily focuses on the relationship between the teenagers living in the house.

De Kaboutermummie Belgium, 2006 TV-series Kabouter Plop Walter De Donder, Hilde Vanhulle, Aimé Anthoni, Agnes De Nul Smal needs to practice her skills as a nurse. She finds Klus a willing victim, wrapping him totally in bandages. Their friends Plop and Kwebbel and totally unaware of this and faint immediately when confronted with his mummy-like appearance. Shadow of the Hawk USA, 2006 TV-series Justice League Unlimited    Shayera agrees to meet with Carter Hall, an archaeologist who has discovered Thanagarian artifacts from ancient Egypt. A demoness once ruled Africa and part of Eurasia with her supposed power of the gods. In 6600 BC, two Thanagarian officers were stranded in Egypt. There they meet Touareg nomads and get trapped inside an Egyptian pyramid. After a struggle to get out, they disguise themselves as mummies and hide inside the bag of a Belgian tourist to get back home. Episode from the Dutch/Belgian animated series "Kika & Bob" about the adventures of a brave little girl and a not so clever fireman.

The Mummy's Curse USA, 2007 TV-series Growing Up Creepie On a visit to the natural history museum, Creepie and her classmates get lost in the tomb of a mummified pharaoh, and only a dung beetle knows the way out. Episode 16 from the animated television series "Growing Up Creepie" about the adventures of a little girl who was left on the doorstep of the home of a family of insects. The family have taken her in and raise her as one of their own, but she has to keep this a secret to the real world.
